Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China's First Emperor, is a monumental companion publication which accompanies Bowers Museum's epic exhibition of the same title. The 2000 year old Terra Cotta Warriors are one of China's most recognized symbols to people all over the world. After years of negotiations with officials from Shaanxi Province, it was agreed that these icons of Ancient China would come to the United States in the largest such exhibition ever, beginning at the Bowers in May 2008, before traveling across America for almost two years. The exhibition contains an unprecedented 28 life sized figures including warriors such as cavalry, infantry, charioteers, and archers: also, newly discovered court officials, acrobats, and musicians. Other new discoveries include life-sized bronze birds of several species though to be for the Emperor's entertainment.
