HealthSmart High School: Violence & Injury Prevention (Teacher Guide with CD and Set of 30 Student Workbooks)

HealthSmart High School: Violence & Injury Prevention is part of ETR's comprehensive K-12 health education program that focuses on the essential concepts and skills students need to know and practice to adopt healthy behaviors. HealthSmart meets the National Health Education Standards and aligns to the CDC's Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT). HealthSmart focuses on the key areas of risk that confront children and youth today as identified by the CDC's National Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS). The program also draws on the cultural strengths of students and their families to support healthy behaviors and establish healthy social norms and expectations. HealthSmart High School: Violence & Injury Prevention lessons and activities are tailored to the developmental capabilites of high school students. This unit offers eighteen 60- to 90-minute lessons covering the following topics: The Consequences of Violence; Factors That Contribute to Violence; Preventing Bullying; Preventing Cyberbullying; Preventing Hazing; Preventing Hate Violence; Preventing Sexual Harassment; Preventing Dating Violence; Preventing Suicide; Finding Information About Violence Prevention; Getting Help; Understanding Injury & Risk; Preventing Motor Vehicle Injuries; Responding to Emergencies; Making Decisions to Reduce Risk; Assessing Safety Hazards; Advocating for Safety. The program includes a Teacher Guide (344 pages); a classroom set of 30 Student Workbooks (48 pages each); and a CD with PowerPoint and Masters.
