When training camp opened last September in Ottawa, no one was quite sure what to expect. Sure, the team had as much talent as any in the NHL, but it had disappointed in the playoffs before. As the season began, the Senators had some difficulties finding their form, but slowly and surely they developed into one of the highest-scoring, most entertaining teams in the league. Daniel Alfredsson emerged as a true leader, Jason Spezza became an offensive superstar, and Ray Emery developed into a world class, number-one goalie. By the time the playoffs arrived, the Sens were a force to be reckoned with, playing up-tempo hockey with a confidence they had never demonstrated before. The result was an historic season for the Sens as they made it to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in their history.
