As I Recall: My 25 Years in the FBI (1)
Description:
The 1960's was a difficult time to be an FBI agent and be assigned in the South, especially in Mississippi. In the beginning, agents were looked at as occupation troops. We worked six and a half days, investigating civil rights complains and identifying and interviewing members of the Ku Klux Klan. When I left Mississippi for Montana, Mississippi was the most integrated state in the nation. My next three years were spent on Indian Reservations. Never in my life had I experienced such brutality. It was the three most difficult years of my life, but I met some wonderful people in eastern Montana. I met a few jerks as well. When I retired I was in Billing,s Montana. Billings was a great place to live and t raise our kids. When I retired I asked Mary where she wanted to go. Her answer "Where it is warm. I was always warm in the South. So we took off for Atlanta. W stayed there for several years while I worked. Now we ahve a small cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. Life is good.
