Mississippi State Boards Handbook

This is specifically written for executive branch boards and commissions in Mississippi. There are several reasons you may have been appointed, but expertise in State Government is likely not one of them. This book’s purpose is to bring you up to speed on your new responsibilities and duties, and provide a basic framework for understanding your board’s place in state government. This book will cover a broad spectrum of material. First, we have a brief explanation of how state government works in Mississippi. Beyond that is an explanation of other state agencies with which you may be dealing and how boards and commissions fit into the statewide picture. Then we will get into your responsibilities and duties as both a board and as a board member.
