Bethany: A House for the Friend: Pillars for Family Spirituality

The town of Bethany is our inspiration. There a family was born and grew up. We know the three siblings: Lazarus, Mary, and Martha. Bethany symbolizes, in the life of Jesus, the house where he felt welcomed. In the family is precisely where we find our place in the world, where we receive a name and, with it, an identity and a mission. The family is where our history is woven together with the history of others. The family is where a path of fulfillment is opened for us. This book speaks of the pillars that support the great adventure of the family. The authors try to understand in what way it is possible to live spirituality in a family and how to live the light of the Spirit in the web of relationships that constitute a home: married life, parenthood, son-ship, and fraternity. Its authors are professors of the Pontifical Institute of John Paul II in Rome; they have great academic experience behind them and are dedicated to a task that has given them occasions to reflect and write about these matters. Above all, they are priests that have a great passion for families. They belong to a young religious institute, the Disciples of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, whose mission is centered on the pastoral care of the family.
