Angel in the Midst

This book is about five women who meet every Thursday at Devin's salon in her basement to get their beauty treatments. Each woman has her own issues. Devin's salon is where they go to discuss and solve them. Lori is the general manager of a five-star, five-diamond hotel. Longing to escape and start her life over, she is separated from her husband, Leo. All of her children are grown and successful. Lori does not see her and Leo ever getting back together, and she wants to do some of the things she has dreamed of doing. Will she make that move, or will she continue on as she is? Helen is a corporate secretary married to an abuser and a womanizer. Helen is hanging on to her marriage, afraid to get a divorce. She blames herself for her husband's behavior. She's been married before and is afraid to be alone again--until one night he makes the decision for her. Christine is the widow of the group. She tells everyone that her husband died with a smile on his face. She likes young men, and she loves telling the other women about her hot dates. One thing that she really likes is to upset Yvonne with all of her explicit sex talk. She puts up a big front, but deep down she is looking for something--something that will make her happy. Yvonne is a moral religious snob. Yvonne thinks everything is a sin; she's even afraid of sex with her husband. She thinks of sex with him as a duty, no passion allowed. She is also a secret drinker, although she would never get drunk--that would be a sin. Her husband has turned to strip clubs and a certain stripper to fantasize about. Brandi is a twenty-eight-year-old stripper with a son. She was married to a drug dealer and sold drugs. Something happened to her in college that sent her spiraling. Brandi has a plan, and she is going to take these women on a ride with her. Brandi will change these women's lives forever. She will become their Angel in the Midst.
