A descendent of Millie Cheavers, although unknowingly, Annie Pierson had responsibilities to the planet Vardes which no other bloodline had, obligations which pulled her out of her comfortable world and on the run as she struggled to understand her new abilities. She ran from the Priests of Vardavrish who wanted to control her abilities and also from the Five Families who enjoyed seeing Millie’s descendents die. Healing a two hundred year old train wreck, cleansing the false time trapping hundreds of souls, Annie had no doubt she must answer the call of Vardes and heal the other souls clustered on her surface, souls she could sense in her mind as reflections calling her forward. But with so many souls, Annie was unsure where to start. That’s when Michael came forward, a shapechanger hidden at her side since she was three years old, himself only a boy when he swore to protect her, to love her.
