Napoleon Hill was an American author who lived from 1883 to 1970. Many consider him to be the father of personal success literature. "Think and Grow Rich" is not only Hill's most famous book, it is to this day one of the best selling books of all time. "What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve" is one of the hallmark beliefs that provide the foundation for Hill's works. His hope was to convince the average man that success was within his reach, regardless of his circumstances. Napoleon Hill knew dire circumstances in his early life. He was born in a one-room cabin in a small Appalachian town called Pound in southwest Virginia. His mother died when he was just eight years old. At the age of fifteen, he decided to be a "mountain reporter" for some small local newspapers. He made enough to enter law school, but had to withdraw when the money ran out. The turning point in Hill's life was when he was assigned to interview the powerful and successful Andrew Carnegie.
