The most recent Bureau of Justice statistics estimate that “one out of four school-aged children is bullied.” For three long years, little Mandi Wein was that “one out of four” child. From epithets to physical abuse including punching, pushing, and even skewering with a sharpened pencil, Mandi endured a living hell that lasted until her parents were forced to pull her out of East Jefferson Elementary School in their home state of Rhode Island. Despite repeated attempts to inform authorities in the Jefferson Department of Schools, including Mandi’s principal, her teachers, her counselors, the school board, and eventually the Jefferson Police department, Mandi’s abuse continued unabated.
