Motown Burning

Motown Burning is a love story as poignant and familiar as Romeo and Juliet. Aram, a motherless, disadvantaged boy from the streets of Detroit meets Katie, a girl with a fairy tale family from the affluent suburbs and the rest, as they say, is history. However, prejudice and hatred intervene and Aram, whose anger gets the better of him most of the time, finds himself with a no-win choice: prison or Vietnam. At the same time, Katie finds herself pregnant and abandoned by her parents. The novel begins in a helicopter over Vietnam and takes the reader on a roller coaster ride all the way through to the end. The story unfolds through the characters; Opie, a young man who is a crack shot from shooting squirrels back home, Saint, who is an artist not an soldier, Mary Jane, Katie's rough edged cousin, and a myriad of other delightful participants in this very entertaining saga. Motown Burning takes the reader through a gamut of emotions. It is the sort of story that the reader will not soon forget.
