Such control exists everywhere; as between matter and matter we see it in the law of gravity, the law of cohesion, the holding of th mariner s needle to the north, and the drawing of one substance to another; as between mind and matter, it controls all the physical functions of the body, including health and action; as between mind and mind, we know there is a channel of communication through which influences are sent by powers not answerable to the ordinary senses. Every human being possesses some control over others, or some means of controlling others, although they may be unknown and unused.
