Complete Athlete: Understanding the Journey to Becoming a True Professional

In athletics, regardless of the sport, we are driven by competition - by the idea to become better, we must be bigger, stronger, and faster. But did you know those three things have nothing to do with becoming a Complete Athlete? Becoming a Complete Athlete is about so much more than your skill level or your strength. It is the constant drive to understand that, as athletes, our journeys are about so much more than any destination. They are about the individuals we become because of those journeys.

This book will challenge you to look at the athletic journey from a different perspective with advice and stories from Paralympic Gold Medalist Mallory Weggemann as she intimately discusses overcoming adversity, challenging perception, and pushing the boundaries of possibility.

Mallory Weggemann represented Team USA at two Paralympic Games. In London 2012, she won both gold and bronze and set a Paralympic Record in 50m Freestyle. Most recently, she competed in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, where she swam all seven individual events and made it into the top 8 in five of the seven. She is focusing on continuing her career with eyes set on the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

When she is not training for competition, Weggemann is a motivational speaker whose audiences range from educational groups to Fortune 500 companies. Her inspirational messages share valuable lessons about adapting to change, overcoming fear, and survival in the face of tremendous odds. She challenges her audiences to remember: "The only limits we have are the ones that we create."
