Description:

21 bilingual stories in English and Norwegian Nynorsk (in the same book) from the collection of Peter Christen Asbjørnsen and Jørgen Moe, as well as others. In 1944, Øyvind Dybvad had an inspiration for a new cartoon series based on Norwegian folk tales. The series received the resounding name of Tuss og Troll [Gnomes and Trolls]. Other than in 1947, this classic series has been published every year in Norway by Norsk Barneblad. Jens R. Nilssen, a master at drawing trolls, illustrated the series from 1944-1956. In 1957, Solveig Muren Sanden followed as illustrator and became known for her kinder trolls in the Norwegian landscape. She is one of Norway's greatest cartoonists, particularly known for her work with Tuss og Troll. Bilingual book includes over 600 full-colored illustrations. Published by Deb Nelson Gourley, Astri My Astri Publishing. Made in USA. 21 stories include: The Three Billy Goats Gruff - Bukkane Bruse; Grimsbork the Bay Stallion - Grimsborken; To the forest and build a house - Til skogs og byggja hus; The hen is out hiking in the mountain - Høna trippar i berget; The haymakers at the summer pasture - Slåttekarane på stølen; The Polar Bear - Kvitebjørnen; The Pastor and the Cotter - Presten og husmannen; The Smithy and the Princess - Smeden og kongsdottera; The old troll who wanted to propose - Trollgubben som skulle fri; The Boy, the Giant and the Girl - Guten og jøtulen og jenta; The Bear and the Fox - Bjørnen og reven; The Troll and the Thunderstorm - Trollet og Toreveret; Redfox and the Ash-lad - Rauderev og Oskeladden; Widow Fox - Reve-Enkja; Peter, Paul and Espen the Ash-lad - Per, Pål og Espen Oskeladd; The mill that is still grinding on the bottom of the sea - Kverna som står og mel på havsens botn; The clever fox - Den lure reven; The Shoemaker - Skomakaren; The Ham Shank - Fleskeskinka; The Ash-lad and the Red Horse - Oskeladden og den raude hesten; The Wood-collier - Kolbrennaren
