Rudiger Stories (A White Collar Crime Thriller)

Hotshot Walter Conklin is a wunderkind Wall Street hedge fund manager. He’s on a roll until his $1 billion technology fund melts down after his CFO cooks the books and he can’t manage his way out of it as the NASDAQ crashes. Charlie Holden, Assistant U.S. Attorney in New York, is on to him—Conklin’s CFO copped a plea and blamed it all on him—so Conklin flees with $100 million from his fund and becomes a fugitive financier under the alias of John Rudiger. When he adopts Antigua as his home, it sets off a series of adventures as he tries to stay one step ahead of Holden, who periodically sends members of his staff to Antigua to ID Rudiger and extradite him. First, Rudiger cuts a deal with the double-dealing local police to buy himself some local ID to establish himself as an Antiguan national. Later, Rudiger has to outwit a killer hired by a disgruntled investor who lost millions in his hedge fund. After that, Rudiger goes into the belly of Antigua’s underworld to help his housekeeper scam back her life savings from the con artists who swindled her out of it. And in the last adventure, Rudiger recruits Katie Dolan, another lawyer sent from Charlie Holden’s office, to help him retrieve $50 million in bearer bonds from a safe deposit box in New York.
