Riley Bale is one tough girl. Plagued with a mysterious illness for much of her young life and living as an orphan with her two cold and distant older sisters, Riley has dealt with being bullied by becoming a bully herself. After a rough day at Astoria Middle School, and an unexpected meeting with a strange old woman named Mrs. Telby, Riley begins to realize that she is being protected by forces beyond anything she could have possibly imagined. Desperate to escape her life in Astoria, when Riley is tested and then invited to attend Lionhead Shifter School, she accepts the opportunity on blind faith alone. Once there, Riley not only discovers her true identity as a shifter, but meets two boys, Oliver Preston and Ash Plum, who are destined to change her life forever. Filled with themes of friendship, love and self-acceptance, mixed with the pain of growing up and discovering things about herself she’s never known, Lionhead tells the gripping story of a thirteen-year-old girl becoming who she’s supposed to be while finding a place where she truly belongs.
