The Dark Yergall

The Dark Yergall is one of the dystopian classics of the post-9/11 period. First published in 2002, the Wiktionary quotes The Dark Yergall to illustrate usage of the word 'sexbot'. The Dark Yergall tells the story of a journalist, Nosir Rag, who searches through InfoMod looking for clues to the disappearance of a long dead philosopher, Sarmus. Nosir believes Sarmus might hold the key to ending the mind-numbing commercialism and stifling superficiality of the Imkass Empire. In his quest for knowledge of Sarmus, Nosir learns that mysterious aliens, known as Yerggs, are using the corruption of the Imkass Empire to help them secure control of the universe. With the help of non-sanctioned information known as DefectoMod, Nosir and his friends attempt to escape from a government bent on destroying them and their dark discovery.
