Vintage Voices

In this the centennial year celebration of the founding of the California Writers Club, the Redwood Writers Branch anthology celebrates the passage of time. We salute you with the Italian toast Centi' Anni: May you live 100 years. We have collected a fine array of stories, poems and memoirs. Some stories will make you sad; others will make you smile; many will make you think. Each one is distinct, just as the Russian River is different from the Amazon, the Columbia, the Thames and the Nile. Each is different in its length, its depth, its dangers and delights. Time, like a river, flows past into present, present into future and returns again as rain. The pieces of this book are arranged in a similar manner. We begin with stories rooted in our current, frazzled times, flow back to simpler, calmer days of mid-century, float back again to earlier days of western settlers and the Great Depression, then rush forward to the future of disappearing species and nuclear holocaust.
