The Columbia Basin; A Photographic Perspective

The Columbia Basin; A photographic Perspective is a collections of photographs representing the men and women who developed the land, cities and towns of the Big Bend country of Eastern Washington from the 1800s through the 1960s. The book is a snapshot of historical and everyday events of the part of Washington known today as the Columbia Basin. While not intended as a history book, the history of this region is reflected in the photographs taken by the people themselves. The 307 photographs displayed were selected from more than 3,000 submitted for consideration. They represent aspects of Columbia Basin history and everyday life. Determination is reflected in the faces of the early settlers as they grubbed out a living. The farmers in the 1950s rejoiced as the first irrigation water arrived. You will see a mixture of emotions represented, with a sense of pride being the common thread that binds the people together during this journey through time.
