The Doodlebugs

For nearly six decades they traveled the rails of the Santa Fe, delivering people, milk, mail, express packages, chickens, newspapers, and gossip. Officially, they were known as gas electric motor passenger cars but they were lovingly called "doodlebugs." The Santa Fe owned quite a number over the years, both very small (inspection cars) and large, both new and second hand, both purpose built and converted from passenger cars.
