My Heroes: Complete Records of Pacific Coast League Stars from the '30s, '40s and '50s

The first book to document the complete baseball records of the lesser-know journeyman players of the Pacific Coast League, "My Heroes: Complete Records of Pacific Coast League Stars From The ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s," by James Rebollini, has just been published by Carneros Press. "My Heroes" is the culmination of years of painstaking research, but also of years of Rebollini’s passion for baseball and for Pacific Coast League baseball in particular. The period between 1930 and 1960 was in many ways the golden age of baseball. Before television made the game literally a household fixture, attending a game and seeing the players in person was a magical experience. Minor League baseball teams, like those in the Pacific Coast League, made baseball accessible to the masses even outside the big cities. "Baseball back then was a lot different than baseball today. First, there was a war on and many of these players were 4-F or on the verge of being called into service. Thus, there were a lot of ‘older’ players who were well into their 40s and still playing the game. The rosters were constantly changing. Where did these players come from? Where did they play before coming into the PCL? Without stardom, there weren’t too many career records to look up in those days… This is why I decided to research and create this book," said Author James Rebollini, in the book’s introduction.
