Marine Atlas, Volume II - Port Hardy to Skagway

As populations increase and the urban living scene becomes more congested, the allure of relatively uncrowded waterways and open landscapes is enhanced. The change of pace from freeways, tense traffic and crowded office spaces to the freedom offered by our waterways, gives the boater a chance to travel as he wishes, and to go where he wants to go. From lower Puget Sound to the head of Glacier Bay in Alaska, stretches an area for small craft unique in its infinite variety of physical features and diversity of scenic beauty. Few will have the privilege of experiencing this rarity not found anywhere else in the world. The MARINE ATLAS comprises a body of selected skippers' observations for this area. It is designed to provide these notes in a compact, usefully organized form. The intent is to help the small boat skipper feel at home even in waters strange to him. The hope is to stimulate interest in exploring and in enjoying the many inlets, passages, and shorelines from Shelton to Skagway. To accomplish these objectives the MARINE ATLAS combines area charts with suggested courses to reach designated points, harbor charts, aerial photographs, and a wide variety of information on available services, facilities, and local details. The MARINE ATLAS is in two volumes. Volume I covers the waters from Olympia and Shelton north to Malcolm Island and Queen Charlotte Strait as well as west on the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Cape Flattery. Volume II covers the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia waters north of Malcolm Island, and all of Southeastern Alaska.
