Dr. Lane's essays are intended for those who teach or plan to teach, and also for parents and for university and school administrators. She focuses attention on many of the critical areas facing our schools and universities, and thus on society itself. She discusses the development of the self, the importance of diversity and of humanistic values; she demands that children be given the opportunity to live fully with joy and purpose.
