Music Lovers' Cookbook
Description:
My name is Frances Gibson, and my husband and I have authored Music Lovers' Cookbook. It is a coffee-table conversation piece because it is definitely not the usual type of ordinary cookbook. The hardback cover is of the Vienna symphony in their 150th anniversary concert on New Years eve in the Golden Hall in Vienna.
There are 17 menus for all musical occasions -- pre-concert, post-concert, winter, spring, summer and fall concerts etc. and suggested beverages and classical music recordings to compliment the presentations of the food. There are 175 numbered recipes to correspond with the numbers in the menus. The ingredients are listed in bold print, so the hostess need not read the entire recipe to see what ingredients are needed. Where an asterisk (*) appears, the recipe many be set aside or refrigerated until serving time.
Nine of the most innovative composers of classical music have their pictures in sepia tone, their bios, and samples of their hand-written manuscripts. The composers comprise the first section of the book. Scattered throughout the book are musical potpourri -- anecdotes, events and happenings in the lives of classical composers, conductors and musicians. Many are humorous, but all are factual. The last section of the book is devoted entirely to musical potpourri, and one can start reading at any place.
