Big Creek is the sight where the Hydro Electric Project , now known as the Southern California Edison Company, began a vast project of many lakes, powerhouses, tunnels and transmission lines to furnish electricity to Southern California in 1909. At one time the Edison Company hired 5,200 people in Big Creek and its railroad station stayed open twenty-four hours a day.The men loved to work in this area because of the close proximity to hunting, fishing, skiing etc. but the wives preferred a closer proximity to restaurants, malls and shopping centers. Because of this love/hate view between husbands and wives Mrs. Bush has encouraged many people to write their own stories which are covered in this book.
