The traditional manual(Horologion, Casoslov) containing the complete texts of the usual, received order(textus receptus) of midnight vigil, matins and lauds, the first, third, sixth, and ninth hours, the noontime service, vespers, and compline; with selections from Lent and Easter, the weekday services, the eight resurrectional tones, the calendar of saints, and services to Christ and the Theotokos and for the dead. These are the traditional services formed through the centuries by the Church from the psalms and canticles along with her own prayers and hymns.
