Cold Turkey: A Christmas Selection

It's the most wonderful time of the year, or so we've been led to believe. Scour any frosted pane and within you will find a family gathered in harmony, exchanging carefully wrapped presents, safe in the warmth of the hearth. Sound familiar? Not, apparently, to The InkerMen conspirators. These festive tales tell a very different story. The window is broken, the fire's gone out and you are alone with your thoughts, walking in a winter hinterland. 'Tis the season for ghost, not Bible, stories. The Christmas found inside these pages is a Christmas of long, arduous drives cross country. The sky is overcast and forbidding, the roads are treacherous, and the day is growing late. In the back the children are fighting, outside the landscape looks starved and barren, and all that lies ahead is the family home that you spent so many years longing to escape.
