Timeless India

Two Italian photographers come to the country they have often dreamed about and discover for themselves the meaning of the epithet "land of contrasts". They record the fact with their camera that everywhere, myth and reality, the present and the past, live harmoniously together.From the time of Marco Polo, India has been described as a land of astonishing variety. The authors of this photo-journal record this in images that range from the stark salt pans of Kutch and its colourful people, to the dense jungles of Orissa and its animistic societies. They click away at deserts and palaces, homes and markets, celebrations and pilgrimages, stopping to take a tender look at a wizened face, a shy grin, a wide-eyed stare, catching the colour of dresses swirling, the glint of burnished silver, the movement of busy hands.
