Description:

Neogene History of Tropical American Mollusks by Edward J. Petuch ISBN 0-938415-02-6, published by CERF, in 1988, hardcover with printed dust jacket, 217 pages, about 8.5 by 11.25 inches, 22 by 28.5 cm., illustrated with maps, 69-page size black, and white photographs and drawings, maps, and charts as well. Ed Petuch's work has always been a subject to controversy among professionals and collectors. But, he has done a tremendous amount of work, especially in his descriptions of new species and other taxonomic divisions in the Mollusca. How much validity his work has, is something that only the future will fully decide. This book is one of his more interesting ones and presents a study of 250 species of fossil mollusks from the Miocene and Pleistocene of tropical America as well as 100 species in the recent fauna that the author considers to be "living fossils". This is a used copy but it is in extremely good condition. The previous owner has highlighted with a yellow mark the names of several species that apparently he had in his collection.
