Maps of the Oregon Trail

The author was called by the National Park Service to serve as one of five consultants to help implement the National Historic Trails Act, which called for a comprehensive study of the Oregon Trail and related historic sites. The maps shown here are exactly as they appear in the NPS report, and there are others included too. Most of the 394 sites listed in Historic Sites Along the Oregon Trail (Patrice, 1981) by Aubrey L. Haines are shown. Here too are support maps showing fine detail of a number of key areas, prepared by such trail wizards as the late Paul Henderson, Reg P.
