Volume III covers the period 1914-1968, and contains 21,861 entries. This volume records the continuing flowering of American impressionism and the emergence ofmodemism, culminating with the Academy's last annual exhibition, in 1968. Together, these three volumes document the oldest and longest exhibition record of any museum in the United States, and offer us an unparalleled opportunity to study the evolution of American art.
