Woodlawn Remembers: Cemetery of American History
Description:
WOODLAWN RMEMBERS: CEMETERY OF AMERICAN HISTORY by Edward Bergman, c1988. 158 pages. Within Woodlawn Cemetery reposes the most remarkable variety of interesting and historically important people anywhere in America. Musician "Duke" Ellington, jurist Charles Evans Hughes, financier Jay Gould, author Herman Melville, journalist Nellie Bly, lawman Bat Masterson, inventor Gail Bordon, and many more rest in this beautiful Arcadian Setting. More fascinating people lie here than any of us could meet in a lifetime, and visiting Woodlawn and learning these people's stories teach us a lot about our history and our national culture. This book gives you insight to the great people buried in this cemetery. It tells you about their life and then shows where they are buried and the kind of final resting places they chose. Touring this cemetery is like visiting all of the great Americans all in one place. For example, I took a picture of Vernon & Irene Castle and the next picture is of their place of burial. I am downsizing an extensive book collection particularly my genealogy books. This is one book I really hate to sell, but it is time for them to go as I get ready to move to a smaller place. This is a paperback in VERY GOOD CONDITION. There is some slight wear around the edges of the covers (as often happens with paperbacks). There is also a ½" tear at the bottom of the left bottom edge of the back cover. Also the top cover does not lay completely flat -- just needs a bit of weight, but I will leave that to the buyer. I am new to Amazon, but have sold over 4,500 books on that other large venue. I promise fast shipping and courteous service.
