History of the Britons

Nennius has assembled and preserved some of the earliest accounts of British history in the dimly understood Fifth Century. Some of his sources consisted of earlier writings, and others oral traditions; many would otherwise be lost today. Every student of Dark Ages and early Medieval history should read this classic translation of Nennius's crucial work. This was a fascinating document. I have read a number of history books which cite early documents such as this one, but have not read any of the primary documents from this period
