One Woman's Liberation

I've been the neglected housewife, the forgotten woman, toiling in the kitchen, washing the same clothes and cooking the same meals year in and year out, raising kids and serving a husband--and being taken for granted. I grew up as "Red Foley's daughter," then became "Pat Boone's wife," and then "Boone girls' mother"! I've wondered if my life had any meaning, if anybody would really miss me should I be gone, if I'd made the wrong choices and squander my youth and my life--if I might not have had a glamorous career. I've wondered if there was such a thing as real liberation--for this one woman. And thank God, there was--and is! -Shirley Boone
