Danger at Dolphin World

A story about dolphins, villains, and relationships in an unconventional family.

Since Leah's mother abandoned her in the care of her stepdad Noah, Dolphin World has become Leah's second home. She loves the dolphins, and Noah's work as an artist there gives her daily access to the show, the sea-life, and the inter-staff rivalries. Mysterious and publicly dangerous events begin happening as soon as her devastatingly attractive 15-year-old stepsister Summer arrives for a visit. Pink flamingos are let out; the ticket office swarms with angry bees and there is a near-deadly encounter with an electric eel. It becomes obvious that someone is sabotaging Dolphin World, and Leah, 13, must unmask the person responsible before the park closes its doors forever, which of course is what the Swim Free animal rights group encamped outside the gates would like.

Is Summer sabotaging Dolphin World, as well as Leah's relationship with Noah? Is Swim Free up to anything sinister? Following her stepsister to Dolphin World by night, Leah comes face-to-face with even more danger, and makes discoveries about Summer that will change their relationship forever.

Author Shannon Teper says she has been writing since she could hold a crayon. She worked at Marineland of Florida, the World's First Oceanarium, some years ago, and says that while none of the mysterious events in her book actually happened at Marineland, and all of the characters are fictional, "it was fun to imagine mysterious events that could have happened and how my characters would react to them. My close childhood friendship with my cousin was an inspiration behind Leah and Summer's relationship."
