A Gallery of Postcards (EAKINS PRESS FO)
Description:
In 1936, when Walker Evans had his first major show at the Museum of Modern Art, he conceived an accompanying series of postcards to sell at the museum during the exhibition. Using Kodak gelatin silver postcard paper, Evans began to make contact print details of a number of his 8 x 10-inch negatives, but the project was never completed. Now, in conjunction with the Metropolitan Museum of Art and their Walker Evans retrospective, Eakins Press makes a selection of these small masterpieces available.
The eight images from Walker Evans: A Gallery of Postcards are produced as classic tri-tones and sold in a custom-designed aluminum box that opens to a self-standing display. A beautiful object to keep or a memorable gift for photography buffs. Featured essay by Jeff L. Rosenheim, curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Dimension: 5 ¾ x 4 inches, 8 tri-tone postcards
