In 1922 he was introduced in Paris tio the couturier Paul Poiret, who was so taken with the avant-garde sensibility of the then unknown artists camera work that he commissioned him to photography. In 1934-1942 he produced a considerable body of work for Harpers Bazaar photographing personalites in society entertainment and litersry worlds as well as the actual Chanel, Schiaparelli, and Molyneux fashions themselves. This book reproduces a rich selection of these fascinating works, including a number of highly unusual color photographs.
