Among other changes, the <i><b>2007 Edition</b></i> includes the U.S. Supreme Court decision upholding the application of the companionship services exemption, which excludes from FLSA coverage employees who provide care for elderly or ill patients in their homes, to home-based caregivers who are employed by third-party agencies (Long Island Care at Home, Ltd v Coke, Docket No 06-593, June 11, 2007). Other significant legal developments that have occurred since the last edition, published in 2004, are included. </p> <p> The <i><b>Guide</b></i> explains how these updated laws apply to employers and employees both in government and private industry. It also covers the Equal Pay Act (EPA), child labor restrictions, recordkeeping requirements, garnishment restrictions, and the protection afforded migrant and seasonal agricultural workers.
