Genealogical Gems from Early Missouri Deeds, 1815-1850

Do not make the mistake of thinking that you have no Missouri ancestry and that this book therefore has no use for you. In the nineteenth century it was difficult to get from the east side of the United States to the west without going through Missouri. Your direct ancestor may have made a brief appearance in Missouri of which you are unaware. These abstracts are not complete for the county covered, nor does this work cover all the counties in Missouri. The abstracts were selected for their genealogical significance and include: land partitions, deeds of gift, powers of attorney, out-of-state deeds, granting of slaves, slave manumissions, and wills and marriages. The counties covered are: Barry, Bates, Benton, Boone, Callaway, Cedar, Cole, Cooper, Dade, Franklin, Gasconade, Greene, Henry [Rives], Hickory, Howard, Johnson, Laclede, Lafayette, Marion, Miller, Morgan, Pike, Polk, Ralls, St. Clair, St. Francois, Saline, Warren, and Washington. These abstracts are to serve as a guide to researchers to enable them to find deeds they may not have located otherwise.
