Over a period of forty years, he served three Presbyterian churches in Illinois. After serving the First Presbyterian Church of Macomb, Illinois, for twenty years, he was designated Pastor Emeritus upon retirement. Dr. Mortonson is the author of That Seeing, They May Believe (Volumes One and Two); and The Lent Instructor, a companion book to The Advent Instructor.
