Practicing the Application of Health Education Skills and Competencies

This book helps the teacher who is preparing health education professionals. It systematically addresses each of the responsibilities and competencies that have been identified by the health education profession as necessary for entry level health education. Each of the 7 chapters follows the 7 responsibilities of a health educator as put forth by the National Task Force on the Preparations and Practice of Health Educators. Background information with references, ways to obtain health-related data, and a glossary of terms is also included. The practical application of concepts and performing certain tasks, such as developing a survey for needs assessment, is focused on as well. This text is useful for students at all stages of the professional health education process.
