Sherlock Holmes Novels

“Elementary, my dear Watson.” A phrase synonymous with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous unconventional detective Sherlock Holmes. The story begins when Holmes and Watson first meet and form a working relationship. This story is separated between the present day of solving the murder and the past circumstances that caused someone to commit murder. Who committed the murder? Who solves it first, the policy or Sherlock Holmes? The Sign of the Four is the second Sherlock Holmes novel. The story centers around a stolen treasure, and a secret pact made between four convicts. The book also introduces readers to Doctor Watson's future wife, Mary Morstan. The Hound of the Baskervilles is the third Sherlock Holmes novel. The plot centers around an attempted murder that was inspired by the legend of a supernatural hound. Many avid Sherlock Holmes fans consider this to be the best of the four novels. The Valley of Fear is the fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel. The book begins with Holmes receiving a message from an agent of Professor Moriarty. The agent then thinks twice of betraying Moriarty and decides to not send Holmes the key to decode the message. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was the British writer who created the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. Conan Doyle's Holmes stories are still the standard that all detective and mystery fiction is compared to. Doyle also wrote The Lost World, a hugely influential novel that inspired Michael Crichton, the author of Jurassic Park. Doyle still remains one of the most widely read authors in all of literature.
