Mischievous Meg

The Petersons lived in a comfortable old house - a big red one - down by a Swedish river which played a very important part in their lives. In winter, when it froze over, neighbors used it for a road, with horses pulling sleighs between farms. In warmer seasons the children played in it, and Ida, who helped with the work, used it for rinsing laundry.
