Longman Dictionary of English Language and Culture

Aiming to provide a comprehensive dictionary that gets into the heart of the English langauge and helps students and teachers get into the head of the native speaker, this contains over 15,000 cultural entries explaining items such as corner shop, car boot sale and Number ten, together with 80,000 words and phrases, usage notes, language notes, easy grammer codes and a 2000 word defining vocabulary. There is equal coverage of British and American English. In addition, it contains 32 pages of colour illustrations and over 500 b&w illustrations and photographs which aim to provide an insight into life in Britain and America and provide detail that is not found in any other dictionary eg fish and chip shop.
