I'm the author of M&A Basics for People in a Hurry, which was published in two editions. Since I wrote that book, the mergers and acquisitions market has gotten hotter, richer and, well, BIG. Deals have gotten bigger, there’s tons of liquidity (cash) sloshing around in the investment market, and there are more deals on the market, especially now that Baby Boomer business owners are reaching that age where they want to cash out.\nSo, I’ve written this BIGGER book to bring you even more best-practices, tricks, and techniques for getting the highest values in the sale of your businesses. And (I couldn’t help myself) I have taken time to tell a few “war stories” of how deals got done, crazy offers that were floated to buyers, and some of the exceptional characters I’ve met along the way. This book, "M&A Basics for People in a (BIG) Hurry," substantially expands on my previous writing, and the contents continues to be informed by lessons learned “on the street” from deals and engagements that our firm has completed.\nOne thing that hasn’t gotten bigger is the time you have on your schedule. So, I’ve kept most chapters to under 800 words. Most of us read at 200 words a minute. So, except for the longer first chapter, these chapters can each be read in just five or so minutes.
