One of her favorite parts of each day was reading aloud to her students. As she did, she thought and thought about the books that she herself must write and publish someday. And she wondered: Which should be first?Beginning in 2018, she received three unmistakable clues. That summer along the shore of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota, she dashed back to her car when a blinding rainstorm fell. Oddly, though no one was visible anywhere on the beach, in front of her car there now sat a red truck. Its license plate read “Corky.” The next summer, she pulled into the same parking lot at the same beach, and there, in the same space, sat another red truck. She started to work on her story about Corky and she moved to Duluth in the fall of 2019. Finally, in May of 2020 having moved back to Minneapolis, she parked her car one day. Across the street she spotted a red truck with “Corky’s” painted on its door. She knew editing and publishing the book was an absolute priority now.It felt exactly right to Linda to be writing her beloved Corky’s story, a story of hope, during the difficult year that 2020 was for us all. Having also been a massage therapist working with many modalities for 25 years, she knew how important it is to have hope everyday of our lives.
