Political Ideologies: Left, Center, Right

Beliefs so compelling that multitudes fight and die for them; ideas so powerful that leaders can use them to transform societies; principles that bring order out of chaos and make reality readily comprehensible - these are some of the themes and issues of ideological analysis.

All ideologies share common qualities, including a theoretical and historical foundation, a conception of human nature, and a view as to the causes of, and solutions to, social, economic, and political problems. In modern usage, ideology is particularly concerned with political beliefs, values, ideals, and moral justifications pertaining to the form and role of government and the nature of a state's economic system.
