The second edition of this text has been updated to take account of recent developments in the historiography of Henry VII and Tudor England. In addition to two new profiles of Jasper Tudor and Elizabeth of York, the title provides an extended survey of the reign and achievements of an usurper king, who shaped his foreign and domestic policies to protect himself and his newly established dynasty. Recent research and contemporary sources are drawn on throughout the book to highlight areas of historical debate about Henry and the nature of his kingship. The author concludes by assessing the extent to which Henry VII can be regarded as an innovative and successful king.
