The theme of this year’s Economic Report of the President is “To Recover, Rebalance, and Rebuild.” In 2011, the Nation continued to recover from the Great Recession and to make progress toward building a stronger foundation for more balanced and sustainable economic growth in the future.The problems that caused the deep recession that began at the end of 2007 and lasted until mid-2009 were a long time in the making, and will not be solved overnight. But economic progress is being made. In 2011, the Nation continued to recover, rebalance and rebuild a stronger, more secure future. Sustaining and strengthening the ongoing recovery remains a top priority for the Obama Administration, while seeking to address the fundamental imbalances and other problems that had built up for decades and erupted with the financial and economic crisis in 2008. Additionally, strengthening and expanding the middle class, reforming the financial sector, promoting American manufacturing and American energy are at the root of the Obama Administration’s strategy to reestablish an economy that is built to last.The Economic Report of the President provides an overview on the Nation’s economic conditions. The theme of this year’s Economic Report of the President is “To Recover, Rebalance, and Rebuild.” It includes the Annual Report of the Council of Economic Advisers. Each year, the Council of Economic Advisers submits its Annual Report in accordance of the Employment Act of 1946 as amended by the Full Employment and Balanced Growth Act of 1978.Topics in this report include: The Year in Review and the Years Ahead; Restoring Fiscal Responsibility; Stabilizing and Healing the Housing Market; International Trade and Finance; Jobs and Income; Preserving and Modernizing the Safety Net; and Improving the Quality of Life Through Smart Regulation, Innovation, Clean Energy, and Public Investment.Librarians and researchers will treasure the data boxes as well as tables in the appendix relating to historical data about key factors impacting our nation’s economy.
