Effective Reading in a Changing World

Using an integrated approach, this work seeks to help adult readers of varying backgrounds to strengthen their cognitive abilities, view reading as a positive experience, develop the successful strategies needed for successful, lifelong reading, and explore contemporary controversial issues. It combines reading selections with in-depth practice activities, and questions for discussion and journal writing. The focus throughout is on the literal and inferential comprehension of book, essay and literary material, as well as on the skills and strategies necessary for critical thinking, vocabulary development and effective study techniques.
